Unmind is based in the Fora building in Borough High Street, London

Unmind

Unmind is a workplace mental health platform and has been a Fora resident since 2019. In June 2021 it signed up to become the first business to use the new Fora Tailored Office service, as it had experienced significant growth and wanted to adapt its workspace to activity-based working and make it more appealing to its employees.

“For us, it is really important that the office is somewhere that people want to be, not somewhere that people have to be,”

Sarah Magerston, Senior Operations Lead, Unmind

Unsurprisingly, the demand for mental health support services has increased significantly over the past year and so Unmind, which specialises in promoting mental wellbeing in the workplace, has seen rapid growth. During lockdown, it managed to have its teams work successfully from home, but now it needed to bring them back to the office. It was particularly evident that the business was missing the ideas and energy that come from in-person interaction.

“The tailored office gives us a real chance to adapt to our Unmind people’s needs. They have told us they want collaborative space, they want teamwork, they want to be able to use big whiteboards to present. So the office no longer just means screens, sitting at your desk. It means a space where you can really come together and collaborate, which we’ve learned is just not as easy to do when working from home.”

Sarah Magerston, Senior Operations Lead, Unmind

Unmind felt that it had particular requirements that could be met by the Fora Tailored Office service. After gaining insight into how the business works and asking its managers and employees about what they would like from their ideal workspace, Fora designed new work settings and layouts to help Unmind create an environment that will keep the people who work there motivated and happy and producing their best work.

“Unite around uniqueness is one of our values and that extends to our different working styles as well. The tailored office will cater for those that want to collaborate or would prefer a quiet place where they can go and focus.”

Megan Kille, Head of People, Unmind

Curated furniture and furnishings contribute to a welcoming atmosphere and reflect Unmind’s progressive culture and values. But beyond the physical space, through analysis of how the office is being used, Fora Tailored Office is now providing insight into how the business can get the best out of its new office. Fora has allowed for flexing and contracting space as needed, providing new settings for diverse work activities.

Find out how it works

“This is a learning experience, so the data is really important to us to continually assess how Unminders are feeling, and we’ll then continue to adapt how we use the office. It’s less about productivity and more about wellbeing and creating a space that’s optimum for everyone.”
